Androidland opens in Melbourne

Today we were in Melbourne for the opening of Androidland, a special Android-themed zone in Telstra’s flagship store on Bourke Street.

Designed by Telstra in collaboration with Google and handset makers Samsung, HTC, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and LG, Androidland features displays and games that will help shoppers learn about Android phones and tablets.

This is “the spaceship”, where customers can Androidify themselves, fly through the world with Google Earth, and play with apps on a giant touchscreen.

And here’s where you can have a look at all the Android handsets and tablets that might make a good gift.

Did you know that Australia has gone from lagging to leading the worldwide smartphone revolution in the last year? We estimate that each month hundreds of thousands of Aussies are buying a smartphone -- so chances are they’re on the Christmas list of someone you love. For the record, we’re ok with the “one for me, one for you” school of Christmas shopping.

If you stop by Androidland to get some ideas and tips, let us and Telstra's Androidland know on our Google+ pages what you think!
